Russell’s Pride Dented By The Prince…

It’s always important to make a good first impression especially when you are meeting with Royalty, well that is unless you are Russell Brand of course.
Whilst on Live with Regis and Kelly promoting his new film The Tempest, the scruffy-faced funnyman spoke of his recent encounter with Prince Charles at last week’s Pride of Britain awards in London.
It must be a daunting experience meeting a Royal, and to be fair to the newlywed his chat with Charles didn’t start off to well. Brand was (to say the least)… a slightly anxious about the whole ordeal; on top of that he was thrust upon the Prince by event organizers.
Russell said: “I was shoved into him and I saw a moment in his eyes as we shook hands when he realized, Oh, That’s that mad comedian”.
But wait, there’s more to the tale, as Brand went on to tell the hosts: “He sort of tried to get away. I had him in a bit of a grip. I was holding on, thinking, this is my moment. I’m not letting him go just yet…
There was a moment where he was trying to recoil and I heard his wrist click a bit.”
The one that got away Russell??
Now I’m a big fan of Russell’s and one can only hope Prince William is too, because as long as Charles is around, I don’t think a knighthood will be on the cards any time soon.
But I don’t know… It kind of has a nice ring to it though, arise Sir Rrrrrussell Brand!
Russell Brand and Helen Mirren Movie to Premiere at Venice Film Festival!

As movie stars from Hollywood and around the world gather in Venice, Italy for the annual Venice Film Festival, Russell Brand and Dame Helen Mirren anticipate the premiere of their film The Tempest, which also stars English actor Alfred Molina. The film, directed by American director Julie Taymore and based on William Shakespeare’s play of the same name about the struggle between a brother and sister with mystical powers, is scheduled to be screened on the closing night of this year’s festival.
The debut of The Tempest will follow a crowd of movies that are to be screened, as almost 80 films are expected to premiere during the festival’s 11-day run. Although The Tempest is not being entered into the festival’s competition, 22 of the films being screened are in contention for the Golden Lion.
This is exactly the type of film I would expect to see Mirren and Molina in, but I must confess I was a little surprised to learn that Brand will be featured in such an artistic project. From St. Trinian’s to Shakespeare, Russell’s career certainly has come a long way in the last three years. Still, we will have to wait until the final day of the festival to see just how well his performance is received…
