I almost fell off my chair at this one when I first heard it, according to the UK’s Sun on Sunday singer Susan Boyle has applied for a minimum £6.00 an hour wage job as a cashier at a branch of bookmakers Ladbrokes.
Despite earning an estimated £20 million since finishing as runner-up on ‘Britain’s Got Talent‘ in 2009, Boyle reportedly filled out an application for the job in the Blackburn, Lothian branch of the chain.
The paper claims that ‘SuBo’ saw the advert for the job on Thursday and immediately inquired about taking the role.
Deputy manager David Corr said he was shocked to see the singer in the shop and for her to then speak to him about the job.
He told the Sun: “Susan Boyle walked into the shop and inquired about the job advertised in our window. We were all in shock. She explained she was really keen on working there and she lives nearby.
Obviously she doesn’t need the money so I think she saw it as a way of getting her out of her house and taking her mind off things.”
A spokesperson for Ladbrokes confirmed: “Susan came in to the shop and asked about the part-time position. She had previously applied for a job with us before she was famous. There must be something in the Britain’s Got Talent water as [BGT judge] Alesha Dixon worked for Ladbrokes before finding fame.”
Boyle was told if she wanted the job she would have to apply online. Oo-er!

She rocketed to stardom on Britain’s Got Talent singing I Dreamed A Dream back in 2009, and now Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle has revealed why her fame was initially very hard for her to understand and comprehend.
The 52-year-old revealed last weekend that she’s been diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, a developmental disorder that is a form of autism, it is characterized by poor social skills, physical clumsiness, and narrowly focused interests, it mainly affects social interaction and communication skills according to the U.S. National Institutes of Health.
She said she’s always known she was “different” even from a young age when other school kids called her “simple Susan.”
“I was told I had brain damage. I always knew it was an unfair label,” she said. “Now I have a clearer understanding of what’s wrong and I feel relieved and a bit more relaxed about myself.”
The diagnosis came about a year ago and she said helps explain why she also suffered from anxiety around strangers and struggled with eye contact while growing up.
SuBo noted “I have communicative difficulties, which leads to a lot of frustration. If people were a bit more patient it would help.”
“I am not strong on my own. When I have the support of people around me I am fine,” she said.
Boyle recently released her fifth studio album, a collection of Christmas recordings.
Her debut album, “I Dreamed a Dream,” sold more than 8 million copies around the world, making it the most popular album of 2009.
SuBo we love you…such an amazing woman!

Britain’s Got Talent superstar Susan Boyle has landed her first movie role.
The singer was snapped in full costume in the Cotswolds area of England shooting scenes for The Christmas Candle.
Of the freezing cold temperatures while filming, Susan said: “Wearing “long johns” under her dress due to the chilly conditions.
“I can’t believe I’m making a film. I’m really enjoying the period costumes and stepping back in time – although it is very cold on location.”
SuBo, who will also sing on the soundtrack of the film that stars Les Misérables actress Samantha Barks, added: “I’m wearing long johns under my bustle!”
Barks join Susan on set just hours after landing in the UK following her Oscars appearance.
The movie is based on a story by author Max Lucado set in the 19th Century.
The sky is limit for Boyle, it seems… Good for her!

Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle teamed up with camp disco icons the Village People to make her first US telly ad.
The Scottish singer appeared alongside the YMCA act, 80s fave Tiffany and Lance Bass, from boyband ’N Sync, to plug Miracle Whip salad cream.
And the commercial was watched by millions of viewers during Sunday’s glittering Grammy awards show.
It sees SuBo and co record a spoof charity song pleading for shoppers to “end the prejudice” against the spread.
Susan, 51, belts out lines from Keep an Open Mouth and at one point makes her bandmates a cuppa.
The singer wrote on her website: “It was great to sing alongside the Village People.
“It’s not every day you can say you introduced an ’N Sync boy to a proper pot of tea?”

Susan Boyle says that she wants George Clooney in her Christmas stocking this year.
The Britain’s Got Talent star is currently single and has set her sights on the Hollywood heartthrob.
When asked which star she would like to see in her stocking she said: “George Clooney! He is really nice! You bet! He is handsome! Wow!”
Susan also believes her dream guy will come along one day. “Well, you’ve got to wait until you’re asked!” she joked.
“I will wait until Mr. Right comes along and then I will know. I wouldn’t ask a man out. I’d wait to be asked, it’s more polite. The gentleman should always make the first move.”
The Scottish singer recently released her latest album Standing Ovation: The Greatest Songs from the Stage, which includes classics such as ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ and ‘Memory’.
Aww, let’s hope Susan does find someone special to snog under the mistletoe this year, though the chances of it being Clooney are rather slim, sadly!

I hear Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle is set to have her unbelievingly lucky life story hit the silver screen.
The 51-year-old ex-Britain’s Got Talent contestant has just returned from a trip to the U.S, where pen met paper in what sounds like a major megabucks deal that will turn Susan’s life story into a feature length Hollywood biopic.
She said: ‘‘My story will make a great film. We are in the middle of negotiations just now for a film about my life.”
And which actress does she want to play her? “There’s only one person I’d love to play me – and that’s Julie Walters. She would do the job and you just know she would do my story justice.”
Filming will begin sometime next year and apparently the I Dreamed A Dream singer has already decided who she wants to play her manager… um, wait for it… George Clooney…
She added: “It’s wishful thinking. But it’s Hollywood… anything can happen.”
I guess she’s right; who would have thought Susan would have reached the dizzy heights of success she already has, based on that, I’d say Clooney is not beyond the realm of possibility!

Singer Susan Boyle is to perform with The Osmonds at a sell-out show in a Las Vegas casino, I can reveal.
The former Britain’s Got Talent contestant will appear as a special guest alongside 70s music legends Donny and Marie at the plush Flamingo Hotel next week.
The Scottish superstar from Blackburn, West Lothian said: “I am very excited to be going to Las Vegas — this is a dream come true.”
And thrilled Subo, 51, will also duet with former pop pin-up Donny in Los Angeles the night before — on U.S TV hit Dancing With The Stars.
She said: “Singing with Donny twice in the space of 24 hours is just wonderful and really unbelievable. I still have to pinch myself that this is really happening.
She added: “Going to the bright lights of Vegas and singing will be great and I can’t wait to have a look at all the sights.
“Who knows, I may have a wee flutter on the cards, although I don’t think I’ll be one of those high rollers.”
