Twilight Star Judi Takes A Bite At Hollywood Fame!

Posted on October 14th, 2010 at 7:39 am by

As Brits in LA go, former soap actress Judi Shekoni has more staying power than any other expat I know. So it came as no surprise to me when I opened up my Facebook this morning to find a lovely message from the aspiring star, saying, “Hope your well! Guess whose gonna be a vampire in Twilight!!!”

Yesterday, Summit Entertainment announced that Judi has been added to the cast of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn in the role of Zafrina.

Zafrina has lived outside of civilization for centuries, making no attempt to keep up a human façade; her character is among the oldest vampires in the world, descendants of an ancient Amazonian tribe.

Amazonian Zafrina, and Judi have much in common it seems (apart from their long legs). It too feels like Shekoni’s been around forever, once a jobbing model in London, Judi finally got her break playing Precious on BBC TV’s hit soap Eastenders a little over 8 years ago.

From there Shekoni practically landed on every tabloid magazine cover that Britain had to offer – her PR people literally milked it. Then she hopped on a plane to Hollywood chasing her dream and like so many Brits who arrive expecting the earth it all went rather quiet for her apart from the odd telly appearance here and there, until now…

Congratulations Miss Shekoni, I can only imagine what Tinsletown has in store for you from here on, if 2002 is anything to go by.

TIme to vacuum the red carpets and get them ready for Judi Shekoni, I say… As nobody knows your determination quite so well as me, I was the one putting you on all those magazine covers many moons ago, remember?!

New James Bond Film Officially Cancelled!

Posted on July 5th, 2010 at 7:38 am by

Oh noooo! This is such disappointing news for us James Bond fans. Movie studio MGM has confirmed that production of the twenty-third bond film has been completely terminated. Back in April, producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli announced that development of the next installment of the celebrated spy movie franchise had been put on hold “indefinitely” due to the financial instability of MGM, the distributor and major stakeholder of the Bond property. With this announcement, the film’s development has gone from being on hold to full stop.

To date, MGM is still bankrupt and seeking a buyer for the studio and/or its assets, such as James Bond. The studio has been given until July fourteenth by its lenders to work out a plan of action with potential buyers. The three major entities to emerge as the most likely to purchase MGM are Spyglass Entertainment, Summit Entertainment, and Lionsgate Entertainment.

Unfortunately, this news means it will likely be several years before we see a new Bond picture released in theaters. EON Productions, which produces the Bond films, has stated: “We do not know when development will resume and cannot comment further at this stage.Daniel Craig, the most recent actor to play 007, has not released a statement about the cancelation. In light of the fact that he is under contract for at least two more films, Craig is probably not thrilled about the news.

I’m sad to say that it looks like we have no choice other than to simply live and let die… for now.

Final Twilight Film Split in Two!

Posted on June 12th, 2010 at 2:31 pm by

A fortnight before The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will hit theaters, distributor Summit Entertainment has officially announced that the final Twilight story, Breaking Dawn, will in fact be divided into two separate films.

This brings the total installment count to five Twilight films in all. The first half of the two-parter  is scheduled to be released in November, while the release date of the final, final film remains unannounced. Both halves of Breaking Dawn will be filmed back-to-back.

This announcement does not come as a shock considering the extensive length (900 pages!) of the book by Stephanie Meyer on which the films are based; however, Summit had to finalize contract negotiations with Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and the rest of the cast before the decision could be made public.

It is no secret to fans of the Twilight series that Breaking Dawn follows Edward and Bella down the wedding aisle as they continue to struggle with their vampire-human differences.

Hmmm… one can’t help but wonder if life will imitate art… eh RPatz?
