There are times when it’s OK to be a little emotional in public, this is one example. I was devastated when I learned that George Michael had tragically passed away on Christmas Day at his home in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.
He was the last person I thought would die – and so young too. I knew him (sort of)… well I did, actually.
I had met George many times in my life – we grew up in similar circles, danced on the same dance floors in top nightclubs around the world, I attended his private parties and I knew many of his close friends and even some of his relatives. A light went out in the music world when George Michael died.
So it is quite fitting that (finally) Sir Elton John has paid tribute to George hailing him “one of the best vocalists ever”. George Michael was one of the best singer of our time… You couldn’t beat him at his best.
Sir Elt’ shared a special bond with the former Wham! star and says he should be remembered for his “wonderful music” and generosity. Indeed.
Speaking about the ‘Careless Whisper’ singer on his Apple Beats 1 radio show, the ‘Tiny Dancer’ hitmaker said: “I wanted to do a little tribute to him on the show because not only was he a good friend, but he was probably one of the most brilliant songwriters this country’s ever produced, and certainly one of the best vocalist ever. One of the best in the world.”
On the close friendship they shared: “It was an amazing friendship based on music to start with, and I remember sitting in the car just off of Hyde Park listening to a cassette of ‘Wake Me Up Before You Go Go’ and I said, ‘George, that’s the nearest record I’ve heard to a Motown record for years and years’.
“It was such a great record, and he and I became great friends.”
Since his death many people have been coming forward to share the Last Christmas singer’s secret acts of kindness, and Elton, 69, says his “humanity” will be sorely missed.
He added: “I just want to remember him for his wonderful music and his kindness, which people are commenting on.”
“He was the kindest, most generous man, and did it without wanting any publicity.
“I’ve seen him being so kind to so many people. I’ll miss him so much for his music but more than anything his humanity.”
Shortly after his death, George’s fans and those who personally knew the Wham! singer began sharing stories recalling his generosity and humanitarianism. Echoing these sentiments, John added: “I just want to remember him for his wonderful music and his kindness, which people are commenting on.
“He was the kindest, most generous man, and did it without wanting any publicity. I’ve seen him being so kind to so many people. I’ll miss him so much for his music but more than anything his humanity,” he said.
It was previously reported that Elton was planning to sing at George’s funeral, reminiscent of his tribute at Princess Diana’s memorial service. However, the funeral has experienced continued delays as the singer’s body is yet to be released with the coroner conducting further toxicology tests to determine the cause of his death.
Reports now suggest the late hitmaker’s funeral may not take place until March.
R.I.P George Michael.

BritWeek officially launched its 2015 Los Angeles program last night at an invitation-only BritWeek Red Carpet Launch at the Consul General’s Residence in Hancock Park.
Billy Zane, filmmaker Amanda Eliasch (pictured), Lady Victoria Hervey (pictured), Jacqueline Bisset, Paul Oakenfold, Lord Freddie Windsor BritWeek director Sharon Harroun Peirce (pictured) and Co-Founder Nigel Lythgoe kicked off the BritWeek program by celebrating British contributions in science fiction.
Lythgoe told British Weekly, “Every year, BritWeek’s program changes and evolves, but this year it is by far one of the most exciting with something for everyone.”
Of course being a huge sci-fi buff myself I was in my element at this year’s bash, when I arrived as I got to walk into the Tardis, was greeted by a Tom Baker – Doctor Who look-a-like and even I hugged a Dalek…
One-of-a-kind Doctor Who costumes were on display as guests sipped on science fiction-inspired cocktails from No.3 London Dry Gin and Belvoir and snapped pics in Walkers Shortbread’s Star-Trek inspired photo booth. Sponsors of the event included Battersea Power Station, BBC Worldwide, and the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows.
Designer Zandra Rhodes told me: “I think it’s wonderful, most of us are people that love being in America and stride across, so it’s really quite wonderful.”
BritWeek is a non-profit organization that hosts a program of events every Spring to promote British creativity, innovation and excellence across multiple categories including, film & television, music, art, fashion, design, retail, sport, philanthropy, business, and more. There are so many words, and yet there are none. No words can describe the sadness of the passing of a friend that once filled important and memorable days in one’s life with laughter, fantasy and lots of fun.
Amy Watts did this in my life, and on many occasions back in the day… I was the Doctor and Amy (for a short time) was my assistant. I still have the sonic screwdriver she bought me for my birthday in 2008.
Though I had known and worked with Amy for many years back in the UK, when she first arrived in Los Angeles I became her “go-to” pal.
I helped Amy find an apartment and even convinced Tom Cruise to pose with her for The Daily Star as we lunched at the Beverly Hills Hotel. We cried tears of laughter and sadness when we both went through heartbreaking relationship break-ups. We were there for each other and we fell out more times than I can remember… Amy even wrote my blogs because I wasn’t a confident writer and she was so brilliant at it. She helped me.
There is not enough space on this page to tell you everything, but I can tell you that through all the ups and downs we went through – Amy Watts was a remarkable person – complicated, passionate, witty and beyond talented. We often lived in wonderland and traveled in the Tardis in our fantasies.
Her time on this earth was cut short this week… But there is a whole universe out there now and Amy can finally travel to the stars. Allons-y!
R.I.P Amy Watts, my memories of you will never fade. #HoldAmysHand xox

Lisa Vanderpump spent last weekend in her favorite getaway town, Palm Springs—where the TV personality served as Grand Marshall of Palm Springs Festival Of Lights Parade.
The event took place on Saturday night and Lisa looking stunning wearing a diamond encrusted Marc Bouwer faux fur.
The star was joined by her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills husband, Ken Todd and their trusty pooch Giggy, who looked characteristically adorable in his little white formal wear as all three were escorted around town in a cream Bentley convertible.
Though Lisa is famously a resident of Beverly Hills, the restaurateur’s history with Palm Springs makes her an excellent candidate to lead the 23rd annual parade.
Last summer the reality star was honored with a place on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars and has provided fundraising for the community’s organization, the Desert AIDS Project.
The British personality has also developed quite a local following as a steadfast advocate for the LGBT Community and a spokesperson for GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation). She was named Queen of the White Party Palm Springs and received an ICON Award from event producer Jeffrey Sanker, and she fundraises locally for charities such as Desert AIDS Project.
“Palm Springs is so welcoming and wonderful,” Vanderpump says. “I just love the fact that the city embraces the LGBT community.”
Known for her glamorous style and her seemingly effortless ability to keep her cool, Vanderpump often deals with stressful or awkward situations on her TV shows. However, she always manages to remain above it all.
“Oh gosh, sometimes it does get a bit crazy but I’m used to being surrounded by crazy,” Vanderpump says. “I try to keep my head together. I try to be fair and reasonable with a sense of humor.”
Lisa posted pictures from the event to her Instagram, where she noted she was “honored” to be the leading lady of the night.
And where Lisa is, I am often not too far away supporting her charitable efforts. I even managed to jump in the frame for a few pictures as she posed happily for renowned photographer Dimitri Halkidis.
Dimitri told British Weekly: “We love having Lisa visit us here in Palm Springs she does so much for our local community.”
He added: “She brings all that Beverly Hills glamour with her when she comes to town, but she’s also a very down to earth lady indeed.”

A drink by Coca-Cola isn’t an obvious choice for a supermodel to front. I was a bit confused: what’s this new green can got that regular Coca-Cola doesn’t, and what’s with a model agreeing to be the face of it?
But, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is about to have you green with envy!
R H-W showcases her tall, slim figure for Coca-Cola’s latest campaign for their new soda, Coca-Cola Life.
The supermodel rocks an eye-catching gorgeous green gown in most of the shots, you know, to hint at the matching Coke bottle in her hands.
It turns out that the hype is more about what Coca-Cola Life doesn’t have (a third less sugar, and a third less calories thanks to stevia leaf extract and other natural sweeteners) than what it does, and it also turns out Huntington-Whiteley comes with a similar approach to staying healthy; “I am really excited to launch Coca‑Cola Life. Coca‑Cola Life lets me enjoy the great taste I love but with a third less sugar and a third fewer calories.
“I’m a great believer in not denying yourself when it comes to what you eat and drink but like everything in life it’s about finding a healthy and happy balance,” she said.
Rosie adds, “My favourite moments are when I’m with hanging out with my friends and family, cooking and eating good food, sharing funny stories and dancing and singing to great music.
“I love to relax at home with my dogs, go swimming in the sea and take long walks in the countryside. Sometimes it’s the simplest of things that can make you happy.”
To celebrate the launch, Rosie opened the Coca‑Cola Life boutique on London’s South Molton Street. The doors are open to the public and people are invited to try the new brand from an installation wall to be in with the chance of winning a Coca‑Cola Life prize, including a long weekend in New York City.
That’s marketing genius for you!

Finally folks, Victoria Beckham has some expression on her face… and it’s all for a good cause!
The former Spice Girl is the latest celebrity to accept the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to raise money for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
Her husband David and three sons poured buckets of cold water over her in aid of the neurodegenerative disease ALS.
Of course Miss B had to nominate members of the A-list…Vic challenged fashion designer Tom Ford, actress Katie Holmes and her son Cruz to do the same.
Other Brits this week who took part were our very own Rosie-Huntington-Whiteley stepped up to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
As she sat perched on a wall Rosie let out an almighty scream as she had the freezing ice water poured over her.
And actor Craig Robert Young was a good sport after accepting his challenge from me on Tuesday; the star of the Jaguar ads begged his friends to pour faster as he was doused with melting ice cubes.

The hot invite of last Sunday night was the Vanity Fair Oscar after-party hosted by Graydon Carter – this do is the place where even Elton and David leave their lavish bash and head straight for its doors the minute they get a chance to… Just about every major star nominated ends up there.
While the location of Carter’s famous gathering changed this year for the first time in five years, the abundance of A-listers attending the bash did not. It’s a rare Hollywood get-together that commands you to show your hard-shell entry pass at “the first checkpoint.” Cut to: other muster and security points. Your job: Get past them and the phalanx of cops prowling Sunset Boulevard, who guarded this night like a war zone (no kidding), to stalk famous people at the illustrious event.
The location was the perfect place for such an event to be held too. It may not sound too glamorous when put into words – a parking lot on the south side of West Hollywood’s Sunset Plaza… But once inside the beautifully decked-out tent that offers sweeping views of the city from one side and a wall lined with portraits of past Oscar winners on another side, one is in five-star Hollywood heaven!
I spotted my fellow Brit-buddies Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and handsome boyfriend, actor Jason Statham arriving looking every inch the loved up couple. Rosie was rocking a sheer baby blue dress and Jason in a tuxedo, ala-Bond and Bond-girl. Rising Hollywood celeb, British filmmaker and artist, Amanda Eliasch (picture top right) was wearing a gorgeous full-length Roberto Cavalli creation topped with her unmistakable “Peggy Guggenheim” style trademark dark glasses – you couldn’t miss her for toffee in those!
Another standout from the party was supermodel Poppy Delevingne (picture bottom right), who wowed in one of the night’s most revealing dresses, a long sheer black floor-length gown that featured a dangerously deep neckline and bum-baring cutouts at the back.
Once inside, a hungry crowd lined up to order In-N-Out burgers from a truck serving regular and no-meat treats. With chips!
As the waiters carrying trays of macaroons, dark chocolate and of course In-N-Out burgers rushed past us, people close by overheard heard movie-magnet producer Harvey Weinstein asking his wife, the British fashion designer Georgina Chapman, to “grab a burger”.
“Darling, we’ve been together for 10 years and in that time I have not eaten meat,” Chapman replied to her husband. That told you Harv’!
Oh well, more burgers for me I thought, and boy did I gorge on them… By the time I left the exclusive bash my white Dior shirt was covered in tomato sauce – messy… Shame on me. So much for the glamour! Uber-time was-a-calling…
My highlight of the night? Meeting the well-deserved Oscar winner Jared Leto, who won for “Best Supporting Actor” for his role in Dallas Buyers Club… Ahh, and so I went home a happy man indeed.

Former Miss Great Britain Leilani Dowding turned more than a few heads last week when she was spotted flaunting her sexy figure dressed in skin tight jeans, a skimpy top and black peep-toe ankle boots at ‘Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch’ in West Hollywood.
The model-turned-fashion designer was shopping on Halloween for a couple of rather juicy pumpkins, and of course, the ex-Page 3 beauty couldn’t resist holding the mature pieces of Orange fruit in a rather suggestive way…
I am sure it was all innocent! In any case, I bet Leilani’s army of loyal fans would love to get their hands on those pretty pumpkins!
Other celebrity guests at the Pumpkin patch included Actress Jessica Alba, Jackass star Johnny Knoxville, Brit superstar Seal and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards, who were also getting their Halloween on the same time!
