Posh Helps Honour Simon Fuller on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

Victoria Beckham and Simin Fuller

‘I want one!’… I can only imagine that is what pregnant fashion designer Victoria Beckham might have been thinking to herself earlier this week while attending a ceremony for fellow Brit, Simon Fuller, who was presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame… Er, perhaps?

Close friends, Simon and Vic’ go way back as it was Simon who first brought us the Spice Girls, AND who is responsible for bringing American Idol to our screens…For those reasons alone, I reckon this guy deserves his place on Hollywood Boulevard!

However, there was no sign of posh’s hubby David Beckham, the soccer ace is currently back in the UK to play in a testimonial football match for close friend and former teammate Gary Neville. Becks is also on Royal duties once again, the star is due to have dinner with the Queen and President Obama while on his visit to the UK…One can smell the knighthood…

Victoria, who was looking her usual gorgeous self while doing her trademark poses for the cameras and fans, bought along her eldest son Brooklyn to join the celebrations, which included A-liters Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and a host of American Idol contestants…I guess this is one way of promoting the shows finale!

J-Lo Becomes New American Idol Judge!

Posted on September 15th, 2010 at 4:11 pm by

No official announcements have been made, but, after months of speculation and gossip, various news outlets have reported that triple-threat performer Jennifer Lopez has finally come to an agreement with television network Fox to be one of the new judges of the massively popular singing competition series American Idol.

J-Lo joins Idol on the tail end of the biggest shake up the show has ever been through since its inception. After original judge Paula Abdul was replaced by both Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi, it was not long before both women announced their departures from the show – Degeneres after one year and DioGuardi after two. Meanwhile, influential judge Simon Cowell walked away from his spot on the judges’ panel to focus on developing the American version of The X Factor.

Early on, Jenny from the block was thought to be a likely candidate to become a new judge on American Idol; however, J-Lo’s future involvement with the show fell into a mire of doubt when contract negotiations reportedly stalled due to lofty demands made by the alleged diva. In the end, the Back-up Plan star accepted $12 million for a one-year deal, according to People.

Alongside Lopez and veteran judge Randy Jackson, one seat at the judges’ table remains available and Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler is rumoured to be on his way to claiming it. Fox is expected to officially announce the new roster of judges in early October.

Hopefully, J-Lo will bring some much needed fresh energy and flare to the aging yet highly rated show.

Mariah Cares about being American Idol Judge!

Posted on August 12th, 2010 at 2:35 pm by

Mariah Carey’s husband Nick Cannon has recently revealed that the world famous singer would very much like to be one of the new judges on American Idol.

The so-called Mr. Mariah Carey said: “You know what? She talks about it. She says, ‘I would love to do that.’ She is one of the greatest singers of our time; she would be great. I don’t know if she has enough time, though, but if they could work with her schedule, I know she would love to do ‘Idol’

Cannon, who hosts America’s Got Talent alongside Brit judges Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne, might be able to pull some strings for Carey due to the fact that his boss is former influential American Idol judge Simon Cowell, who continues as executive producer of AGT.

To The Hollywood Reporter, Cannon said: “Simon Cowell was the anchor of the show. And when he stepped out, it’s like, now what? But as long as Ryan Seacrest and Randy Jackson stick around, I’m watching.”

Considering her reported mental instability, tremendous popularity, and extensive industry experience, I say Mariah is the perfect person to be the new Paula.

American Idol Panel To Be Picked From Scratch?

Posted on July 30th, 2010 at 3:27 pm by

‘Nasty’ Nigel Lythgoe might be able to add yet another string to his director/presenter/producer/dancer bow – psychic!

He told newspapers months ago that if he had his eay he’d completely overhaul the American Idol judging panel if he returned to the show as Executive Producer, and it looks like it’s going to come true.

Rumours are flying that judge Kara Dioguardi has been axed and with Ellen DeGeneres and Simon officially off, there’s a pretty gaping gap on each side of Randy Jackson!

TMZ is reporting that Nigel is officially BACK and now we just have to wait and see who ends up in the hotseat.

Currently everyone from J-Lo to Steven Tyler is being bandied about, but who would you like to see on the AI judging panel?

My dream team would be: Madonna, Dolly Parton, Jay-Z and Elton John – you know, nothing too intimidating for the upcoming wannabes!

American Idol’s Talent’s Got Britain’s X-Factor…

Posted on January 11th, 2010 at 6:57 am by

Just as I reported, um… a while back… Simon Cowell is definitely going to be bringing X-Factor to the US in 2011, which means he will almost certainly be saying ta-ta to his judging spot on American Idol after this season.

Now I’m hearing Simon has been negotiating with Fox execs this week, who are desperate to keep him on Idol, but apparently Simon has already made up his mind to leave and concentrate on X-Factor USA. If any of these execs actually watch the show, they’ll know that Simon’s decisions are usually final!

Cowell produces and judges X-Factor in the UK whereas on Idol he’s simply a judge. Bringing X-Factor over will mean more control (and more money) for the sharp-tongued mogul.

And while Fox are trying to assure audiences that Idol will go on without Simon, everyone knows that Simon is Idol and it wouldn’t be the same without him. Ellen’s going to have to make a big impression to convince me that it will still work if Simon goes.

Luckily, we’ll still be able to get our Cowell fix when X-Factor starts in autumn 2011!
