Skyfall Joins the $1 Billion Dollar Movie Club!

The James Bond smash Skyfall directed by Sam Mendes has internationally to become the most successful Bond film yet in the 50-year franchise, after it topped the $1 billion mark at the box office.

Sony and MGM announced earlier this week that the movie has so far grossed $289.6 million domestically, and a whopping $701.6 million internationally as the numbers continue to climb, pushing the film well over the $1 billion mark.

The film staring Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes is the 14th movie in history to break the billion-dollar ceiling and the third this year, following The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises.

Sony’s vice chairman Jeff Blake said: “To see a film connect with audiences is always gratifying, but the success of this film is nothing short of extraordinary.”

He added: “After 50 years of entertaining audiences all over the world, ‘Skyfall’ is the most successful James Bond film of all time.”

With it being on of my all-time favorite James Bond flicks, Daniel Craig’s third installment is STILL on general release after more than two months after its world premiere…such is the continuing demand.

My Verdict: If you still haven’t seen it, then GO see it!

Adele to Miss James Bond Skyfall UK Premiere

After just giving birth to a baby boy, last Friday, singer Adele will staying away from the world premiere of new James Bond flick Skyfall. I can reveal…

The first ever showing of the highly anticipated next installment will be held in London tomorrow night, but the award winning sensation who sang the theme tune will staying at home being mom, cozying up with her newborn son.

Prince Charles and Camilla will be hitting the red carpet at the exclusive event along with a host of big names, which include the film’s cast, Daniel Craig, Bérénice Marlohe, Ralph FiennesJavier Bardem, and Dame Judy Dench.

A source said: “Adele doesn’t want to leave her little boy’s side, it’s as simple as that. Right through her pregnancy she’s been practically a shut-in, as she wanted to look after herself and the baby.

“Now he’s here, she can’t bear heading out without him, even to hobnob with royalty.”

Missing this prestigious event is not likely to hurt Adele’s chances of having a smash hit; the track is already at No5 in the UK charts — breaking all records.

One industry insider told me: “There’s never been a Bond No.1 hit — so after Adele’s recent dry spell when she was pregnant, we reckon her chances of getting to the top of the chart with this song are very high.”

I for one cannot wait to see this film!

Istan-Bond… Action Man Daniel Craig On Set in Turkey!

Daniel Craig

Hottie Daniel Craig looked suave, sophisticated and rather serious on the set of the latest Bond installment - Skyfall, currently filming in Istanbul, Turkey.

Kitted out in an ever-so “Bond” fitted grey flannel suit and tie, the British star brought chaos to the local town’s center while shooting his daredevil stunt-scenes.

Earlier in the day however, the actor was all smiles as he took time out of his busy shooting schedule for a little stroll around a Turkish market with his wifey – actress Rachel Weisz (inset pic) who joined him on set.

At a press call for Skyfall last Sunday, Daniel told reporters, “[Director Sam Mendes and I] had a four-year break to concentrate on getting this one as good as possible. We’ve just tried to make the best movie we can.”

He added. “We’re both huge Bond Fans, it’s the 50th anniversary this year and that’s a little pressure but a nice pressure to have.”

The new flick also starring Ralph FiennesNaomie HarrisBerenice Marlohe and Ola Rapace, is set for release November 9, and fans will get to see Bond’s loyalty to M played by Dame Judi Dench on the rocks as her past comes back for a visit. But in true 007 style, Bond is there to destroy any harm by using his recognizable stealth!

I for one cannot WAIT to see this film!

Ralph Will Make A Fiennes 007 Boss!

If the rumors swirling the movie-world are true, then it looks very likely that Harry Potter star Ralph Fiennes is set to replace Dame Judi Dench (inset pic) as 007′s boss in the next installment – Skyfall opposite Daniel Craig.

One high up studio insider says that in the film, being directed by Sam Mendes, the character ‘M’, played by Dench, is forced to quit the secret service and train “agent” Fiennes to take over her job.

However, the actor has remained tight-lipped about his new role, saying only: “I’m allowed to say I’m a government agent.” … Oo-er!

When recently quizzed on the subject of whether he would have preferred to have played Bond himself, Fiennes, 49, said, “There was a time in my life when that [playing Bond] would have appealed to me. But I’m a bit on the old side now.”

Filming on the movie is already underway, and a top-quality cast list that includes Javier Bardem, Albert Finney and Naomie Harris will join Fiennes.

Skyfall reaches theatres this November, and will mark Daniel Craig’s third stint as 007 following Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. I can’t wait!
