Gemma Arterton Gets Serious Treading The Boards!

Gemma-Arterton

So, Gemma Arterton has finally decided she is fed up of being called a ‘piece of a**’ by Hollywood’ and has chosen to ditch all the glitz and glamour and focus on a more serious role in the theatre!

The 24 year old is currently starring in The Master Builder at the Almeida Theatre in London, in a which she tackles a more grittier role than usual as Hilde Wangel, who Gemma describes as ‘a bewitching young woman, who arrives to collect a decade-old debt from Halvard Solness.

Seems a far cry from Quantum of Solace, but the Bond girl assisted: “I read so many scripts and they’re all the same.”

She adds: “Either the character is just someone to be in the background or they’re there to help the man, to be the love interest, like I’ve done in Prince Of Persia or Clash Of The Titans.”

Now don’t get me wrong, I loved seeing Gemma strutting her stuff in her hot pants in Tamara Drewe and I loved her in her school uniform in St Trinian’s, but I guess there’s comes a point in a actor’s career where change is needed. So good on her and I wish her the best of luck!

But I’ll also look forward to seeing her in the forth coming Men in Black 3.

Looks like the big Hollywood roles do have some attraction after all.
