Mariah Carey’s husband Nick Cannon has recently revealed that the world famous singer would very much like to be one of the new judges on American Idol.

The so-called Mr. Mariah Carey said: “You know what? She talks about it. She says, ‘I would love to do that.’ She is one of the greatest singers of our time; she would be great. I don’t know if she has enough time, though, but if they could work with her schedule, I know she would love to do ‘Idol’”

Cannon, who hosts America’s Got Talent alongside Brit judges Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne, might be able to pull some strings for Carey due to the fact that his boss is former influential American Idol judge Simon Cowell, who continues as executive producer of AGT.

To The Hollywood Reporter, Cannon said: “Simon Cowell was the anchor of the show. And when he stepped out, it’s like, now what? But as long as Ryan Seacrest and Randy Jackson stick around, I’m watching.”

Considering her reported mental instability, tremendous popularity, and extensive industry experience, I say Mariah is the perfect person to be the new Paula.

Paris Hilton‘s look was sort of familiar at her fragrance launch last night, but her Monroe getup wasn’t half as eye-catching as her cleavage!

Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, who was there with fellow judge Piers Morgan, couldn’t resist having a right old look.

Before the event my pal Paris tweeted: ‘At home getting ready for my Tease fragrance launch event. Getting dressed up as my Idol and Favorite Icon Marilyn. Loves it!’

And she certainly went the whole hog in a white dress, platinum curled hair, diamonds and a fur shrug.

Tease is Paris’s TENTH fragrance – that’s a whole lot of people that want eau de Hilton!

Sharon Osbourne is following in the footsteps of her fellow America’s Got Talent judge, Piers Morgan, by taking on hosting duties of a major American network television talk show. The former X Factor judge will join five other women to co-host a new CBS daily daytime programme meant to replace the soap opera As The World Turns, which is about to finish a 54-year run.

The matriarch of the Osbourne clan will host alongside Sara Gilbert, who played Darlene on the American comedy series Roseanne; Holly Robinson Peete, most recently seen on Celebrity Apprentice; Marissa Jaret Winokur, Broadway actress; Leah Remini, from The King of Queens, and Julie Chen, host of the American version of Big Brother. The name and launch date of the new show have not yet been announced.

One can’t help but consider this new talk show to be CBS’s copy of rival network ABC’s successful The View, but I’m guessing people would rather watch Shazza over Barbara Walters any day! Score one more for the Brits taking over American telly!

Piers Morgan has reportedly signed a £5.5 million deal with US cable television news channel CNN to replace renowned talkshow host Larry King, who will be retiring in a few months. Apparently executives at CNN are fans of Piers Morgan’s Life Stories on ITV. US broadcast television network NBC, home of America’s Got Talent on which Morgan is a judge, is rumored to have agreed to share him with CNN. It is not clear whether Morgan will continue as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent.

First Simon Fuller and Simon Cowell captivated America with American Idol and now Piers will be replacing one of the highest profile talk shows in the United States – the Brits really are taking over American telly! Congratulations Piers!

British telly presenter, Piers Morgan, has gotten hitched to girlfriend and Brit journalist/author Celia Walden. Rumor has it that the couple tied the knot at a hush hush affair in the Oxfordshire village of Swinbrook, which was followed by a reception at a nearby pub. Apparently there weren’t any celebrities in attendance – so no, Ant & Dec did not officiate the ceremony.

Even Morgan’s fellow Brit judges, Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden, were absent from the event, but Holden did tweet: “Piers got married today. I could not be happier for my lovely friend.” As for Si, he probably doesn’t want to give Mezhgan any ideas just yet anyway.

This is Morgan’s second marriage, as he has three sons by his previous wife (Marion Shalloe) and is Walden’s first attempt at wedded bliss.

Cheers to the happy couple! I reckon it’s fair to say Walden’s got talent… or at least Piers thinks so anyway!

Outspoken musical theatre veteran, Elaine Paige has once again taken an enormous dig at Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle and contestants alike for becoming overnight successes far too quickly.

Subo’s idol Elaine was her inspiration from the very first audition for Britain’s Got Talent.

Paige said on BBC Breakfast in the UK this morning: “With reality television things are very different.

Expressing that the show doesn’t allow new artists to learn as they rise through the ranks, Elaine said: “What I worry about for them is that it’s a fast track having to learn everything so quickly. They have to learn it in 16 weeks with all that pressure on them.”

Ok that’s a fair point Elaine, but there’s no need to single out poor old SuBo!

Susan sang duet ‘I Know Him So Well’ with Paige last year in a special show hosted by Piers Morgan about the reality TV star’s meteoric rise to fame.

Scottish born Susan recently received a paycheck of £4million after her debut album sold more than 8.5million copies since its release last year. Not bad for someone who was a complete nobody just a year ago, wouldn’t you agree Elaine?!

Referring to the extent of SuBo’s talent, Paige cheekily added: “She’s got a nice voice – a simple, straightforward voice.”

Ouch… I look forward to SuBo’s response on this one, Elaine sweetie, the gloves are off!

Back in the late 90s Robbie Williams and fellow pop band exile Geri Halliwell were rumoured to be dating, but Geri has just revealed that he was actually saving her life!

Geri says that Robbie prevented her from dying of bulimia, the eating disorder that she has admitted she suffered from during her youth, and that without him it would have got much, much worse.

It’s obvious to me that Cheryl Cole likes a bit of the ol’ ‘US of A’ every now then, and Simon Cowell has certainly made his feelings quite clear he likes a bit of the ol’ Chezza too.

Now I’m hearing if Si’ gets his way and his master plan works out, Cole could be all over the American version of X Factor as one of its new judges, oo-er, go Si’!

I know, I know there’s been rumors going around about this one  for ages, but I’m being told it’s got to the stage where pieces of paper are being passed around (and all that). Sources in the know are saying there’s a dotted line that needs a certain someone’s signature added to it pronto!

Simon’s been having meetings with all sorts of important US telly chiefs stating that Cheryl is at the top of his wish-list to sit in one of the judges chairs, which could mean a staggering $2 million deal is waiting on the table for the former Girls Aloud singer.

Insiders say: “Simon took more of a gamble taking Piers Morgan to the States, he feels Cheryl will be loved immediately. We’ve got to nail her down.”

Well, I reckon Cole has totes got the X-Factor, she seems an unstoppable force of success right now, so I say Chezza sign on the dots darling and get those buns over here. You might need to work on changing your accent a bit mind you, as the American’s might have a tough time understanding your Geordie accent. Remember? Ant and Dec’s attempts failed miserably!
