HBO and Sky Follow The Young Pope with The New Pope!

A fresh pontiff will follow in Jude Law‘s footsteps, as Sky and HBO announce The New Pope

Instead of The Young Pope season 2, Sky and HBO are pressing ahead with a limited spin-off series entitled ‘The New Pope’. Oo-er!

Variety reports that the previous show’s head scribe Paolo Sorrentino – and his co-writer Umberto Contarello – will return to pen this new drama, which once again takes place “in the world of the modern papacy”.

Filming in Italy is scheduled for late 2018. It’ll be a while before the show is on our screens, then. We assume that it will air in 2019, but that’s just guesswork on our part.

“Just like The Young Pope, Sorrentino is writing the script for the new show, but it will have a different twist than what would be expected,” Sky Italia’s Andrea Scrosati told Variety.

Jude Law’s Lenny Belardo will not be the main focus of the show, as the title suggests. But sources have apparently told Variety that “a reappearance by Law in The New Pope, albeit in a much smaller role, has not been ruled out.”

Law would have to find time in his busy schedule to make such an appearance possible. He’s recently signed up for another robe-heavy role: playing the younger incarnation of Albus Dumbledore in J.K. Rowling and David Yates’ Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them 2.

We’ll bring you more news on The New Pope as we hear it.

Charlie Hunnam: “David Beckham Did a Good Job in King Arthur”!

Posted on May 11th, 2017 at 7:17 am by

There’s nothing like being complimented by a star…

After receiving some flack already for his role on the big screen – not least from frenemy Piers MorganDavid Beckham has finally been given the thumbs up on his acting skills for his short cameo in the new movie King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword.

The film, directed by his mate Guy Ritchie, was only a few seconds of footage, but Becks he still managed to pick up a fair dose of criticism.

But now star of the movie Charlie Hunnam has defended the football legend’s skills, saying David worked hard for the role, having even had training beforehand.

Charlie even suggested the 42-year-old was good enough to give acting a real go if he wanted.

Speaking to ITV on the red carpet for the premiere of the film, Charlie said: ‘He’d worked with an acting coach, he was only there as a friend of Guy’s but it became very clear how he’s enjoyed so much success in his life. He’s a perfectionist.

‘I was really impressed.’

Asked if he thought David could take things further, Charlie added: ‘He has the talent to back it up. He has the work ethic, the discipline to do it.’

His pal Guy added his thoughts on Becks’ acting career too: ‘He was fantastic, I love old Becksy.

‘He is a fabulous actor and a real pleasure to be with.’

David is pretty proud of the role, and took to Instagram to give fans a look at what went on behind the scenes to transform him into the gruesome Trigger.  A lot of make up and some dodgy teeth, by the looks of things.

He wrote: ‘It was a pleasure to work with the @kingarthurmovie team on such an amazing film #KingArthur.’

Hunnam stars as King Arthur with Jude Law, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, and Eric Bana co-starring.

King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword hits cinemas worldwide on May 12 2017.

David Beckham Shocks Fans With Facial Scars and Rotting Teeth!

Posted on March 29th, 2017 at 7:54 am by

David Beckham shocked his army of loyal fans earlier this week after posting a picture of his face showing deep jagged facial scars from his temple to his cheek and a set of rotting teeth. Oo-er!

Showing off his new teeth in the pic, the 41-year-old heartthrob famous for his good looks snarled away from the camera, clearly impressed with the lairy look.

He captioned the shot: “Rough day at the office @kingarthurmovie @guyritchie,” the father of four wrote of the snap, revealing massive makeup scarring on the side of his face, as well as a yellowing smile.

According to reports, the star will play a disgruntled knight who is unable to pull Excalibur from the stone.

The former soccer star turned actor debuted his drastic transformation for Guy Ritchie‘s upcoming film “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.”

Set to be released on May 22, “King Arthur” stars “Sons of Anarchy” alum Charlie Hunnam in the titular role and Jude Law as Ritchie recreates the classic tale for Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur.

Beckham previously appeared in 2015’s “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.”

But the star previously admitted he’s expecting criticism over the role.

“I am very aware that many sportsmen and other celebrities have turned their hand to acting and failed,” he told the Times.

Details surrounding Beckham’s cameo are still unknown.

Jude Law Hopes ‘Young Pope’ Role Will Spark Debate…

Posted on October 20th, 2016 at 8:56 am by

Jude Law has insisted his new series The Young Pope does not judge the Vatican but welcomes discussion into conservative Catholicism.

The British actor plays the “troubled and conflicted” Pope Pius XIII in the fictional ten-part series – airing on Sky Atlantic later this month.

In an interview with the Radio Times, Law said he did consider whether it would cause offence but decided the series was not a critique of the religion.

“I’m sure someone somewhere is going to be offended by it, but that’s what storytelling is about. Opening discussions, openly, freely and diplomatically … I’m all for that,” said Law.

The show follows the ascent of Lenny Belardo to the head of the Catholic Church – a young, chain-smoking, Cherry Coke-swilling Pope struggling with responsibilities.

“It’s not The West Wing in the Vatican,” said the 43-year old actor when asked about the show’s message.

“The themes are more about how an individual survives one’s relationship with faith – as opposed to accurately portraying Vatican politics.”

In the trailer released earlier this year, Law’s pontiff is heard stating he is a contradiction: “I’m God. One in three and three in one. Like man, good and evil.”

Sky Italia head Andrea Scrosati, who commissioned the programme, said they worked with consultants from the Catholic Church.

“I don’t think they will find it offensive. They will find it challenging,” he said.

“Those who have the most sincere faith are the ones that constantly question … This is the story of the show.”

The Young Pope premieres on Sky Atlantic on 27 October.

Jude Law Swaps Blockbusters For Online Short!

Posted on November 5th, 2015 at 8:44 am by

From the big screen to acting on the internet! British legend Jude Law appears to have swapped the bright lights of Hollywood for YouTube  after starring in a new 10 minute short…

Teaming up with James Bond actor Giancarlo Giannini, Law has brought a touch of the big screen to the web in the second instalment of classic whisky brand Johnnie Walker Blue Label’s, Gentleman’s Wager.

The short is a follow up to the uber successful Gentleman’s Wager film released in 2014 which saw the Scotch Whisky brand team up with F1 driver Jenson Button and rake in over 11 million views on the video site.

Telling the story of two men who become locked in a bidding war over a classic racing car the clip follows Jude race through Italy to Monaco in scenes more suited to a Chanel advert than Youtube.

But we don’t think Jenson will be worrying Jude is about to take his driving crown anytime soon.

While the 42-year-old does get behind the wheel he isn’t quite at F1 level just yet.

Not that Jude hasn’t tried to perfect his racing skills.

He admitted he couldn’t get enough of driving the classic car during filming saying: “I’m thrilled to be in the driving seat for the second Gentleman’s Wager film.

“Being behind the wheel of the Delahaye 135S racing car, driving through the rolling hills of Italy and out to Monaco, well… I consider myself a lucky man!”

The first film saw Law bet he could win Giannini’s yacht, and in the new 11-minute film, after another wager set in Giannini’s beautiful Italian palazzo, he sets out to win a vintage car in an old-fashioned road race to Monaco.

Law looks debonair throughout, even when covered in engine oil — could this be an extended audition tape for Bond? — and the film, once again directed by Jake Scott through RSA, is gorgeously shot in the world of the super-rich. While a ten-plus minute piece of content is surely a gamble for any brand, in this case the wager pays off.

Guy Escolme, the global brand director at Johnnie Walker, said: “An extension of the brand’s new ‘joy will take you further’ campaign, which shows that joy is the fuel of progress, The Gentleman’s Wager II promotes the idea that a little gratitude goes a long way, not least in delivering joy.

“It also signals our commitment to continue to invest in the Johnnie Walker brand to drive the next decade of growth for the world’s best-selling Scotch whisky.”

The ad was written by Mike Bryne, Lars Jorgensen, Martin Ginsborg, Zach McDonald and Mark Sarosi, who also art directed the spot.

Good stuff!

On Set… Charlie Hunnam as King Arthur on ‘Knights Of The Roundtable!

Posted on June 3rd, 2015 at 7:13 am by

Charlie Hunnam is getting ready for his upcoming role in Guy Ritchie’s movie, “Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur”.

The film is a re-imagining of the classic English legend and will center on a young King Arthur, played by British hottie, Hunnam.

The movie follows Arthur, who doesn’t know about his royal bloodline and is running a gang in the alleys of Londonium.

After discovering Excalibur, Arthur finds himself in a fight against Vortigern played by Jude Law, who murdered his parents, with a young Guinevere, played by Astrid Berges-Frisbey.

According to the old stories, Guinevere falls in love with Arthur’s most trusted knight, Lancelot, in one of the oldest love triangles on record.

However, it still isn’t clear if Ritchie will follow the old stories in regards to Arthur and Guinevere’s relationship or go in a new direction. Either way, the new movie is only the first in a planned series, so there will be plenty of time to develop all of those complicated relationships and storylines.

Meanwhile, filming of the coming movie is currently underway in Wales. With that in mind, Ritchie posted a few-behind-the-scenes images of the cast and crew on his Instagram account. One of the photos offer a first look at Hunnam as the legendary King Arthur. The picture shows Hunnam on set with Ritchie, who captioned the photo with “First day on KORT.”

Hunnam recently spoke with Men’s Journal and he opened up about being a fan of Ritchie and what the role of King Arthur meant to him.

“I’m thrilled man. I’ve been watching Guy’s movies since he first came on the scene, and I think you could say that the King Arthur story is why I got into acting in the first place.

“I fell in love with the story and would watch any of the movies about the story that played when I was a kid.”

Australian star Eric Bana is set to play alongside Hunnam as Arthur’s father, Uther Pendragon.

“Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur”, the first film in the six film series, is expected to be released in theaters in July, 2016.

Jason Statham and Jude Law Team Up in Spy!

Posted on May 13th, 2015 at 6:59 am by

I’m looking forward to seeing two British hotties Jason Statham and Jude Law join forces in their upcoming comedy espionage flick – Spy, which sees Melissa McCarthy star as a female James Bond – only she’s a little bit inept at it… Oo-er!
The film follows CIA analyst Susan Cooper’s (McCarthy) attempt to take on the role of a spy and attempt a secret mission.

But when her partner played by Law falls off the grid and another top agent played by Statham is compromised, she volunteers to go deep undercover to infiltrate the world of a deadly arms dealer, and prevent a global disaster.

The movie also stars Rose Byrne, Morena Baccarin, Allison Janney, Bobby Cannavale, and 50 Cent and promises to combine a mix of comedy and action sequences that will turn the format of a generic spy film on its head.

We’re glad for the clarification on the meaning of the word ‘twot’ in America and if this rib-tickling taster is a hint at the movie’s quality. Check out the clip! I can’t wait for this one to hit cinemas…

Head here for a look at the movie’s full trailer or catch it in cinemas from June 5.

Jude Law Goes Nude for New Flick Dom Hemingway!

Posted on September 26th, 2013 at 7:00 am by

He might look as if he’s gained a bit of weight for his new role but clearly; Jude Law isn’t too worried about flashing his fuller figure.

Making his comeback to the big screen as a foul-mouthed, safe-cracking gangster, Jude Law stars in the

The heartthrob star got butt naked in the trailer for the London-based crime comedy Dom Hemingway flashing his rather peachy bum.

But as Jude’s co-star Richard E Grant confirmed it has not put the ladies off. He said: “Wherever we were on location, women’s knees were literally wobbling, so he seems immune no matter what he looks like.”

The 40-year-old hunk, best known for his roles in Alfie, Cold Mountain and Sherlock Holmes has certainly transformed himself for his latest part playing the ex-con safecracker.

As well as his weight gain, Jude also rocks a pair of massive sideburns while working his cockney accent.

Hemingway was a bad-tempered, overweight thief who, after serving a 12-year prison sentence on behalf of his boss, is eager to collect the cash he feels is owed to him for keeping his mouth shut. While Hemingway returns to the extravagant lifestyle that landed him behind bars, he is forced to deal with another part of his past he left behind: reconnecting with his estranged daughter Evelyn played by Game of Thrones actress, Emilia Clarke.

Dom Hemingway opens in U.K. theaters Nov. 15 and in the U.S. on April 4, 2014. Watch the trailer below.
