Kate Beckinsale, Emily Blunt and Colin Firth Attend Stephen Merchant’s Hello Ladies!

The Brits were out in force last night to support funnyman Stephen Merchant (right inset pic) as he brought his hit comedy show, Hello Ladies to Hollywood,
It was also date night for attendees, actresses Kate Beckinsale and Emily Blunt who both had their American hubbies Len Wiseman and John Krasinki in tow.
Actor Colin Firth completed the star-studded gathering, playing third wheel as he walked into the Beverly Hills’ Coronet Theatre with Emily and John.
‘Hello Ladies’ is about Merchant’s lack of success with the women, despite his many awards and critical acclaim. His reasons, according to Merchant include his tightfistedness and his pedantry, and because of his gawky and lanky 6ft 7 inch frame, and, as with his BBC2 sitcom Life’s Too Short, he delivers plenty of funny and very physical material from his unusually ginormous stature.
Some of his battle-of-the-sexes gags wear thin at times; as does his routine on the glibness of text message speak.
However, a finale in which he re-enacts an old GCSE drama play on issues of prejudice is a showstopper, using his unsubtle teenage self as a license to be gleefully un-PC. This hints of a far more mischievous Merchant lying just around the corner… So Hollywood, watch out!
Merchant, known for his collaborations with funnyman Ricky Gervais, who hosted the Golden Globes last Sunday, spoke about the difference between English and American audiences.
Earlier this week he told the Los Angeles Times, “In England, the audience can be quite surly at times,’
‘You can walk on and you get the feeling that they are sitting with their arms crossed sort of, “Yeah, listen. It was raining, we had to park the car, so this better be funny mate.”
He added, “American audiences just seemed much more enthusiastic. like ‘Yay! It’s great, it’ll be fun! Let’s enjoy.”
I give ‘Hello Ladies’ 5 stars and a BIG thumbs up, well done to Merchant, for managing to slap us full-force in the mush with this incredibly original piece of comedy… Go see it!

No Adjustment Necessary… Emily Blunt Looks Hot!

British actress Emily Blunt wowed the cameras and awaiting fans last night, as she arrived looking simply stunning at the premiere of her latest film, The Adjustment Bureau.
The 27-year old wore a gorgeous frilly pale pink dress…quite fitting actually, with it being Valentine’s Day. But sadly, the actress was without her husband, TV star John Krainski, who was in Los Angeles filming The Office… I’m guessing the romantic festivities we’re put on hold for this one.
Blunt, who plays a ballerina in the film, revealed to Access Hollywood that she only had eight weeks to train as a dancer for the role and it didn’t come without its ‘blood sweat and tears’
“You get dropped, you bruise your knees, calves, and ankles,” she said. “I threw my back out, I threw my shoulder out. I got lots of massages!”
Well, I’m sure the finished result will show that it was all worth it in the end.
The Adjustment Bureau hits our screens March 4th and also stars Hollywood hottie Matt Damon.
Emily And John Loved Up In LA!

They only got married three weeks ago so it’s no surprise that the honeymoon isn’t over yet for Emily Blunt and John Krasinski.
The newlyweds were spotted out looking happy and loved up in LA last night.
And in perhaps a nod to their nuptials at George Clooney’s Lake Como villa , they went to eat at an Italian restaurant.
And the happy couple couldn’t keep the smiles off their faces. Awwwww!
They’ve been spotted out and about at Chateau Marmont and the movies this week so it looks like they’re having some serious couple time before they head back to work.
Congrats to both of them – I think they make a fab pair!
Newcomer Atwell Lands Female Lead in Captain America

Another British starlet is born… Actress Hayley Atwell has landed the lead role of Peggy Carter, the love interest of Captain America opposite actor, Chris Evans.
The news comes after Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures conducted an extensive casting search to fill the role.
Atwell, somewhat of an unknown is rumored to have clinched the coveted part over fellow Brit actresses Keira Knightley and Emily Blunt after a recent screen test in London.
While she might not be a household name (yet!), Atwell has been showing off her acting chops in various BBC productions for years. Atwell even worked alongside Knightley in BBC Films’ The Duchess.
Captain America is scheduled to film in England this summer.

The ‘Duchess’ of Hollywood Keira Knightley says ‘seeya me hearties!’ to Pirates of the Caribbean!
Knightley who shot to fame in 2003 playing Elizabeth Swan in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, has confirmed that she will NOT be reprising her role in the fourth Pirates flick.
Knightley said: “I said when I finished the trilogy that that was going to be it — I had a wonderful time on it and I met some extraordinary people but you know, I think, for me three is enough, definitely,”
