Posh Prince of Caucasia…

American actor Jake Gyllenhaal recently joined his three English co-stars Gemma Arterton, Sir Ben Kingsley, and Alfred Molina at the Dorchester Hotel in London for a press conference to publicize the world premiere of their film Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which will take place at the Westfield London this weekend.
Gyllenhall was caught by photogs, looking suave in a polished suit and sun glasses, on his way to the event. The cheerful tone of the conference was set by the actors, who appeared overjoyed to talk about the film and their experience working on it.
I couldn’t help but notice that for a film set in the heart of the Middle East, the cast is well… not very Persian looking. No offense to the talented actors, but other than Sir Ben’s half-Indian roots, you can’t get much less Persian than this cast. Ladies and gentlemen, another culturally misrepresentative film brought to you by Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer!

The words ‘minted moguls’ sprang to mind this morning when I heard that two of the UK’s savviest businessmen are joining forces to create a super-empire that could very well rival the likes of Disney.
Yep, Simon Cowell is going into business with retail bigwig (and pal of some model called Kate Moss) Phillip Green to create a TV production, talent management and merchandising company based in Los Angeles and London. Because you know, neither of them have enough on their plates already…
