BBC Worldwide and Starz Sign Multi-Year TV Deal!

Just days after Starz Entertainment CEO Chris Albrecht said his company might not continue to produce the popular BBC show Torchwood, Starz and the BBC signed a multi-year agreement to co-develop and co-finance international television content produced by BBC Worldwide Productions.
According to the deal, Starz will distribute the shared content in the U.S. and Canada, while BBC Worldwide will distribute internationally.
Prior to this new agreement, the two companies previously worked together in a similar approach to co-finance and distribute ten episodes of Torchwood: Miracle Day, which has garnered strong reviews and solid ratings. Jane Tranter, head of BBC Worldwide Productions, recently announced that the first project to be developed under the new multi-year deal will be Da Vinci’s Demons, written by David S. Goyer. Until the advent of this pact, BBC Worldwide was primarily known for producing the hit ABC reality dance competition series Dancing with the Stars, but will now be a major supplier of scripted programming in America.
Regarding the partnership, Albrecht said: “When I came to Starz, we determined that forging strong international partnerships would play center stage in financing our ramp-up of dynamic original programming. This exciting partnership with BBC Worldwide Productions is a major step in that direction. It will allow us to provide Starz subscribers more original programming, while delivering enhanced opportunity across all our domestic distribution businesses including Anchor Bay and Starz Digital Media. Jane Tranter and the incredible teams at BBC Worldwide Productions and BBC Worldwide will be terrific partners, and we are very pleased to be able to extend our relationship with them through this venture.”
Likewise, Tranter declared: “[BBC World Wide Prods. is] in a uniquely similar place to Starz. With [CEO Chirs Albrecht]‘s arrival, Starz made a name in originals and is defining themselves as a true player in the U.S. premium cable territory. At BBC Worldwide Productions, we’ve hit our stride in the scripted business after starting these efforts just over two years ago. Working with Starz on ‘Torchwood: Miracle Day’ has been a collaborative and invigorating journey. We’re very much looking forward to bringing Starz’ subscribers more of the programming they’re coming to expect – intelligent, groundbreaking, and honest storytelling, which is synonymous with our BBC roots and values.”

Kel’s Looking Swell… Ahem… In a Good Way!

She had shed over 3 stone during her time on Dancing with the Stars but it seems poor Kelly Osbourne can’t seem to shed the media attention her weight attracts, as she insists that she is not piling on the pounds…quite the opposite, she says…
The E! Fashion Police host, who in the past has confessed to being an ‘emotional eater’ told Us Magazine, “They [the media] keep writing that I’m getting fat, and I’m not – I’m the same size! ‘I work out half an hour a day and just eat what I want and I’m happy, so I don’t really care”…Its true, if you’re happy then don’t even listen to them. I think you look good! Stick to your routine Kelly, it looks like it works well.
Kelly has also been thinking about the future and the fact that it’s inevitable that she will turn into her mother eventually. BUT admits she is actually quite looking forward to it. “[I accepted] that harsh reality where I woke up and one day realized ‘I am my mother!’ But…if I could be anyone, I’d be her!”
In that case then, forget all about those weight issues because you’re always going to be looking FABULOUS Kel!
Kelly O’s Shaping Up (Even More!)

Ladies and Gentlemen, your eyes are not deceiving you… but the airbrushing might be (um, a bit!) No, seriously, get a load of Kelly Osbourne… in a bikini!
Kelly once pledged she would never be seen in swimwear, as she was ‘not comfortable’, but look at her now. The 26 year old stripped down to her two-piece to pose for health magazine, Shape, to reveal her amazing new figure.
The cover girl (never thought I’d ever describe her as that), now weighing 8st (112lbs), appears beaming with confidence, as she’s totally changed her lifestyle to shed over 3st.
It all started during her time on last seasons Dancing with the Stars, when she was teamed up with dance partner, Louis van Amstel. ‘He made me eat turkey burgers and salads. And I started losing weight and realized, “Oh, it’s true what they say: Diet and exercise really work!”‘
It most certainly does Kelly.
I think we can all take a quote from her mother on this one and say, she looks faaaabulous!
The Lythgoe ‘Family’ Producers Bring Panto To LA LA Land… “Oh Yes They Are!”

No sooner had Oprah reunited the Von Trapp family on American television earlier in the week, this picture winged its way across my desk and made me giggle… Perfect! I thought… The Lythgoe’s could be described as the Von Trapp family ‘producers’. Though I’m sure Nigel Lythgoe can still tap his toe and hum a tune, producing seems to be more his forte these days.
Step forward Nigel’s very talented son, Kris Lythgoe (pictured top center). Kris, already an accomplished producer himself, working on shows such as So You Think You Can Dance and so on, has been very clever in spotting a gap in the market here in the land showbiz.
Young Lythgoe has decided to educate the Americans in the art of Panto, er, that’s Pantomime to you folk who’ve never heard the word. And to help you along here’s the dictionary definition: (pan·to·mime) n. Performing Arts / Theatre) Brit informal short for pantomime [1]). Get it?
It so happens that Kris, together with his mother Bonnie (pictured top right) have taken on the task of bringing the very British ‘pan·to·mime’ to California’s sunny shores.
Their first production is Cinderella, starring a quality cast of actors such as Harry Potter star Freddie Stroma as Prince Charming. Stroma can be seen playing Cormac McLaggen in the upcoming Potter installment – The Half Blood Prince. Other players include Jerry Mathers from Leave it to Beaver, Broadway sensation Jennifer Leigh Warren as The Fairy Godmother, with newcomer Veronica Dunne in the title role.
Of course the family appear to have pulled in a few favors too, by getting Dancing With The Stars ‘dancer’ Mark Ballas to choreograph the whole thing, with Bonnie [Lythgoe] directing. What a mix!
They’ve even named the cross-dressing ‘ugly sisters’ after American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest and Simon Cowell. Kris told Page Six: “I’ve deliberately spelled the sisters’ names differently. I hope Simon and Ryan get the joke.”
The curtain goes up at the El Portal Theatre November 27th, and runs till December 19th. Tickets are selling fast, so I’d order them pronto as this show promises to be one big ‘camp’ affair! ”Oh yes it will!”

Kelly O’s Blonde Ambition

All it takes is a bit of hard work and sheer determination to turn your life around, and judging from this pic taken last night at the Fendi Boutique opening in Los Angeles, it sure looks like Kelly Osbourne is a girl owning those words.
The petite reality star, 25, recently unveiled her radical new look, losing three stone after a complete reinvention of her image. Now, Kelly is due to go one step further and undergo laser surgery to remove her tattoos.
She said: ”‘I met with my dermatologist and I’ll start the laser treatment as soon as I have time.
‘It will take several months, and while I’m not looking forward to the pain, I’ve heard it hurts less than getting the tattoo. I hope so!’”
Kelly, who also appeared as a contender in Dancing with the Stars, admits that there are some tattoos she regrets having, but there are the others which are special to her, one of which is the matching tattoos she and her brother Jack had.
As Miss O and her mom Sharon posed for pics on the red carpet it was clear to onlookers that due to her dramatic weight loss, ‘little’ Kelly had finally achieved her blonde ambition.
Sharon, you must be proud! Your darling daughter looks Fendi-tastic!
‘Hough’ Hot Does Chezza’s Dezza Look!

OMG… ‘Del boy’ looks Ab-solutely faboo!
Yup, this is Cheryl Tweedy’s (ahem) so-called boyf’, Dancing With The Stars dancer, Derek Hough, who was spotted showing off his gorge’ torso yesterday afternoon as he left a rehearsal studio in LA.
I’d say Derek’s worked out exactly how to grab himself a bit of media attention if you ask me… Although it’s normally the girls going topless to make the tabloid headlines, er, not the boys!
Derek has allegedly been dating Cheryl since early summer, but recently the ‘couple’ have spent some time apart due to their hectic work schedules. However, my spies inform me of their rather large cell phone bills.
One pal told me: ‘Cheryl phones Derek as often as she can, up to three times a day sometimes. The minute either one gets off work they call each other; they have become the best of friends. Cheryl adores him.’
Who couldn’t, especially with that chest!
Poor Chezza’s been to hell and back this year, shortly after her ex-husband, soccer star Ashley Cole was caught cheating on her, the sexy singer contracted the life threatening disease Malaria, but Derek has certainly helped her through the tough times.
Good ol’ Del… I reckon Will and Grace haven’t got a patch on this pair. Um, of course I’m only joking folks …
Cheryl Cole Hospitalised for Malaria!

X Factor’s Cherly Cole has been hospitalised with malaria, her spokesman confirmed. This past weekend, the singer allegedly fainted during a photoshoot for her upcoming second solo album and was diagnosed with exhaustion. On the advice of doctors, she cancelled all of her work commitments for the week.
Later, it was determined that Cole was initially misdiagnosed and that she in fact has malaria. The pop singer was likely infected during a recent sabatical in Tanzania, on the east coast of Africa, with “friend” and Dancing with the Stars dancer Derek Hough. According to Cole’s spokesman, she was taking anti-malaria tablets while on Holiday.
If Cole had not contracted the disease, she would be judging X Factor auditions with Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh this week. However, Cowell told the singer: “Don’t rush back. Health is a priority and get some rest to recover properly.” Still, the show must and will go on without Cole. Regular panel members, Cowell and Walsh, will be joined at the judges’ table by Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, who is filling in for a very-pregnant Dannii Minogue.
Hopefully, Cheryl will take Si’s advice and return fully recovered from the “M Factor.”
