Sacha Baron Cohen Set to Star in Les Miserables Movie!

According to reports Sacha Baron Cohen, best known to musical theatre fans for his part in Tim Burton’s Sweeny Todd opposite Helena Bonham Carter, has joined the upcoming Les Miserables movie as Monsieur Thernardier.
It had been suggested recently that Geoffrey Rush was in talks to take the part – Rush did an excellent job playing Inspector Javert opposite Liam Neeson and Claire Danes in the 1998 movie adaptation, which is still one of my favorite films!
Cohen, who’s recent roles include films such as Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan and Brüno, rounds of an all-star cast, that includes Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and Russell Crowe as Javert.
Les Mis’ will also see Cohen reuniting with Bonham Carter, who has signed on to play Madame Thenardier. Rumor has it that Glee actress Lea Michele vying for the part of Eponine.
To say that I am very excited about this one is an understatement… Go Sacha; Hollywood will make true thespian out of you yet!
Sacha Baron Cohan’s Lastest Controversial Role… ‘The Dictator’!

If you thought his role an Austrian fashion Journalist Bruno was outrageous, or his portrayal of Kazakhstan tourist Borat was a bit over the top, then you had better prepare yourself for Sacha Baron Cohan‘s latest venture, The Dictator. A film based on a novel that the CIA believes to have been written by none other than Saddam Hussian, one of the most hated men in world history… I must say Sach’, you certainly know how to pick them!
Cohan plays the lead role in the film; a protagonist named ‘Arab’ and the story follows him, as he becomes King and rules over Iraq… Er, Sound familiar??
The novel is also filled with hidden messages which include Cohan’s love interest representing the people of Iraq, who is in an unhappy marriage and her cruel rapist husband symbolizes the United States…something tells me this won’t be the last we heard of this story.
Its a good job the British comic is no stranger to controversy, remember Bruno’s infamous scene when he was seen collecting an African baby out of a cardboard box on an airport baggage carousel.
The Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister also threatened to sue him as he based Borat on him…This new roles sounds like it’s on a whole new level. Oh well Sacha we all know, all press is good press!
Borat Gets Married!

Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher finally got wed in Paris last week according to sources, after a six year engagement.
The private couple had a low-key Jewish ceremony in the city of lurve and have been smooching around the capital ever since, along with their daughter Olive.
Isla reportedly sent an email out to friend back home in Oz saying, “We did it – we’re married.
“It was the absolute best day of my life and in so many beautiful moments I missed you all so much. I thought of you as everything was happening, but Sacha and I wanted no fuss – just us.”
Ah congrats Sacha and Isla! You make a gorge celeb couple – and we’re optimistic for your married life together. I mean, I actually think you have a chance of lasting!
Fashionable Bruno Tops U.S. Box Office

Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest ‘outing’ Bruno, sashayed straight to the No. 1 spot at the weekend box office in North America, according to estimates released today.
The “mockumentary,” in which British star Baron Cohen plays a gay Austrian fashion model seeking fame in the United States, sold $30.4 million worth of tickets during the three days beginning July 10, according to distributor Universal Pictures.
It was thought questions would arise as to whether Baron Cohen’s flamboyant gay persona might prove off-putting to certain audiences – clearly that hasn’t been the case…
Well done Sacha, my boy!

Eminem stormed out of the MTV Movie Awards last night after Bruno landed head first in the rapper’s face. In what was one of the funniest TV moments this year, Sacha Baron Cohen – dressed as his alter-ego Bruno, in a white thong and angel wings – descended from the ceiling on wires and ended up with his crotch right in Eminem’s face. Poor old Marshall didn’t know where to look (well there wasn’t many places he could..)
Bruno was supposed to be presenting the award for Best Male Performance but as he was lowered into the arena on his wires, he flipped upside down, exposing his bare bum cheeks…
