Superman Star Henry Cavill Reveals He Was Once a Chubby Kid!

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no, it’s buff Superman star Henry Cavill showing off his amazing strength while swinging on a pole on a busy city street.

And in this month’s cover interview for Men’s Health magazine, Cavill who steps into the skin-tight suit and cape to play the hero in Man Of Steel, explains he was once a chubby kid who was given the nickname “Fat Cavill.”

He said, “It’s definitely a mean nickname, but kids are kids. Kids are cruel. Whatever… I was fat.”

Determined to bulk up for his ‘super’ role without the help of CGI or special effects, the Tudors actor, who chiseled his athletic 6’1″ frame down to 6% body fat to play a Greek warrior in Immortals, reveals how he lifted heavy weights and followed a strict diet with the help of Gerard Butler’s trainer Mark Dwight.“I had a big sense of pride,” stated Cavill.

“I was like, ‘No shading. I don’t want you to draw abs on me. I don’t want you to put dirt in the right places. I just want to do it myself. I want to have the body.”

He added: “I think the best thing I learned was that I can do it. A lot of people think they probably can’t, until they actually do. When I saw pictures I would say ‘Is that me?’”

Cavill joins fellow Brits Andrew Garfield and Christian Bale who have taken the U.S. by storm as Spider-Man and Batman; now he hopes Zack Snyder‘s reboot will have the same impact on the movie world, and we do too, Henry…we do too!

A Sneak Peak of Meryl Streep as ‘Iron Lady’ Maggie Thatcher…

Meryl Streep as Margaret_Thatcher

It’s only fair that with Brit’s Henry CavillChristian Bale and Andrew Garfield (to name only a few) playing American superhero icons Superman, Batman, and Spiderman, it seems only natural for it to play out the other way around.

When I first heard that Meryl Streep had taken on the task to immortalize Margaret Thatcher on the silver screen in a new biopic, I wasn’t convinced by this one at all, my first reaction being, “No, Meryl, NO!”

Yes, the wonders of Hollywood’s top make-up departments had Streep looking the part in publicity stills, but then anyone can do that with a wig and a few pearls. But could Streep actually pull off playing such a remarkable and historic figure such as Maggie Thatcher?

After seeing this little sneak of the trailer released yesterday, however, I was pleasantly surprised, thinking Streep might just do it justice!

Oscar-winner, Streep, 62, has previously said of playing Mrs. Thatcher: “The prospect of exploring the swathe cut through history by this remarkable woman is a daunting and exciting challenge.”

Adding, “I am trying to approach the role with as much zeal, fervour and attention to detail as the real Lady Thatcher possesses — I can only hope my stamina will begin to approach her own!”

The movie hits cinemas January 6, 2012 and  co-stars Jim Broadbent as Maggie’s hubby, Denis Thatcher, and Richard E. Grant as former Defense Minister Michael Heseltine.

Looking back at Meryl’s previous films, it is difficult to find one I didn’t like, so I hope this isn’t the first of its kind.

Tom Hardy to Battle Batman!?

Posted on October 13th, 2010 at 10:51 am by

Another comic book movie super-villain from the UK!

British actor Tom Hardy has reportedly been cast as the villain in the next Batman movie opposite Christian Bale as the caped crusader, as first reported by Deadline Hollywood. Due to the fact that Mad Max: Fury Road has been delayed, it appears Hardy is available to work on the untitled super-hero project that would reunite him with Inception director Chris Nolan and co-star Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Hardy would also be working alongside Morgan Freeman and Michael Cain on the film.

Insiders are keeping Hardy’s role a secret and will not even confirm that he will be a villain, but this is the most probable case. It would not be the first time Hardy played the bad guy in a major motion picture as he was the nemesis in Star Trek: Nemesis back in 2002.

Although Tom is already a star, this role might be what conclusively puts him on track toward international super-stardom, that is… if the rumour is true. Good luck Tom!

The Joker No More… Funnyman Russell is Now Batman!

Holy Crap Brandman, scruffy Russell almost looks half sexy!

As Katy Perry gets attention from the O.C’s Josh Kloss on the set of her new video, her other half Russell Brand was getting attention of a different kind when he stepped out in this hilarious rubber Batman outfit in New York, while filming scenes for his new movie Arthur.

Arthur is remake of the 1981 film that starred Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli about a drunken socialite who has to marry well-to-do women so he can inherit his family’s fortune.

I heard the funnyman had everyone in hysterics, especially as he peeled the suit down to his waist to reveal his true identity – a rather less than impressive ab-less version.

I’m also told Brand quite enjoyed dressing up as the caped crusader and even sent fiancée Katy a pic of it, that eventually ended up on his Twitter page (pictured).

Leaving me to wonder if Russell is taking the outfit home with him …? And does Katy have a Batgirl suit on order …? And just who’ll be playing Robin … Um, Josh Kloss?!?! Watch this space!

Christian Bale’s All Skin And Bones!

Christian BaleChristian Bale is famed more recently for his on-set rants than his method acting style, but now he’s putting it back in to practice again playing a drug addicted ex-boxer in his new film The Fighter.

The Terminator: Rise of the Machines star was spotted on set in Boston he cut a super-skinny figure, especially next to a beefed-up Mark Wahlberg who plays his half brother in the movie. Marky Mark looks like he’s on a break from one of his 90s Calvin Klein ads!
