Bruno Bows To Censorship Pressure

I saw Bruno this weekend (How funny was it? Going to a self-defence class to learn how to defend yourself against an attacked with dildos? Genius!) and couldn’t help noticing that one scene had been cut from the final edit of the film. Like Paula Abdul, La Toya Jackson was to make an appearance in the movie but didn’t…
Apparently in the scene Bruno searches through La Toya’s phone for MJ’s number and reads it aloud before and enraged La Toya storms out of the interview. Sources at Universal say it was removed out of respect for the family after Jacko’s unexpected death two weeks ago.
I think it’s fair enough, though some of my media friends who saw early screenings of the film said the scene was hilarious – hopefully it will be back in by the time it comes out on DVD.
Meanwhile, so many young teens have been trying to sneak into the 18-rated film that there’s a new 15-rated edit being released. Universal are going to cut 1 minute and 50 seconds to make it more suitable for a younger audience. One studio insider told me: “It’s a shame certain scenes had to be cut as they were really very funny, but the fim is still as strong regardless.”
Hmm, I wonder which (ahem) bits will get the chop ?
