Judes Exudes Presence On Stage In Hamlet…
Posted on at
My artsy LA, LA’s were out in force in London’s West End last night to witness Jude Law defy his critics with his powerful portrayal of Hamlet in the Donmar’s West End season, at the Wyndham’s Theatre. The audience greeted the Oscar-nominated star’s performance with rapturous applause as he finally showed them the full extent of his acting skills…
His powerful portrayal as the troubled Prince of Denmark in the production of the Shakespearean tragedy has allowed Law to have the last laugh, silencing the many that doubted his talent, smeared after the alleged, much publicised fling with his children’s nanny while dating actress Sienna Miller back in 2005.
I’m told Law is an excellent, likeable Hamlet, supported by an amazing cast which includes Penelope Wilton as Hamlet’s mother Gretrude, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ophelia, Kevin R McNally as Claudius and Alex Waldman as Laertes, bringing a sophisticated edge to the characters in the Michael Grandage production.
According to reports the actor’s been talking about playing Hamlet for the last seven years and now his moment has arrived. He was recently quoted in the press saying Hamlet was “a bit like a great song that’s been covered by a load of different singers”
In the movie world Jude Law makes his much needed big screen comeback this Christmas playing Dr. Watson opposite Robert Downey jr. in Sherlock Holmes directed by Madonna’s ex, Guy Ritchie.
Nice to see Law on the right side of the tracks… for once!
Hamlet’ is at Wyndham’s Theatre, London WC2, from Friday to 22 August

I think Jude is a wonderful actor, but his choice in woman is bad

So many of us in the U.S. that can’t make it to London this summer would be very appreciative to know if this production will be brought to New York by chance, after Denmark? I am desperately trying to find out. Thanks
