Eminem’s The Butt of Bruno’s Joke at MTV Awards

Eminem stormed out of the MTV Movie Awards last night after Bruno landed head first in the rapper’s face. In what was one of the funniest TV moments this year, Sacha Baron Cohen – dressed as his alter-ego Bruno, in a white thong and angel wings – descended from the ceiling on wires and ended up with his crotch right in Eminem’s face. Poor old Marshall didn’t know where to look (well there wasn’t many places he could..)
Bruno was supposed to be presenting the award for Best Male Performance but as he was lowered into the arena on his wires, he flipped upside down, exposing his bare bum cheeks…
On the way down he was heard shouting, “Argh, scheisse! Argh! My kugelsack! My kugelsack! ”The wire is trapped round! Help me! Let me down! One of the wires is trapped around my kugelsack!”
Eminem’s face was a picture of horror as Bruno touched down with his pants in his face and everyone, including Cameron Diaz cracked up.
It certainly didn’t seem Eminem was in on the gag – and if he was, his performance is worthy of an vigorous Oscar nod – but he definitely did a good job of looking pissed off, shouting ‘Are you serious? Are you f***ing serious?’ as Bruno lay on top of him.
And we all know how Em feels about man love, soldiers. Slim Shady’s burly bouncers appeared to aggressively pull Baron Cohen off and landed a few cheeky punches on him before Eminem stormed out of the awards as Bruno shouted, “Is the real Slim Shady about to stand up?”
It was note perfect and ensured British hero SBC stole the show, like Russell Brand before him. If it wasn’t staged then Eminem had a total sense of humour failure – and thank God for Bruno, who injected some much-needed controversy into the night, which was an otherwise sedate affair.
Earlier in the day on the red carpet Bruno made an entrance in leopard print Speedo-style pants and matching top and boots.
He told me: “I’ve gone in understated. I’m just trying to slip in without getting noticed.” Before running away from the GMTV red carpet reporter who was trying to ask him questions. “Stop hounding me,” he shouted, “I’m just trying to slip in. Do you want another Diana on your hands? Learn the lesson.”
So if you’re listening Marshall, start Cleaning Out Your Closet… and dig out some Speedoes…
