It’s Oscar week here in LA and the Brit contingent are out in force, so of course my diary is packed… Hangovers expected!

My week kicked off on Tuesday night when I attended the party for socialite and ‘self-created’ photographer Amanda Eliasch, to promote her new book Cloak & Dagger Butterfly, which she describes as “a piece of work that brings the art of the love letter into the Blackberry age”. Amanda tells me, “It’s collection of emails written at night to or about my illicit lovers which run alongside my own photographs of sexy scantily clad models in provocative or post-coital poses.”

So there I was one minute sitting on my sofa in my Calvin Klein PJ’s debating whether or not go and the next I was whizzing my way through the Hollywood hills in my sexy black Range Rover heading towards the party, well I guess that’s LA for you, from pajamas to parties.

Eliasch is one of the more recent Brits to arrive in Tinseltown working its illustrious social scene and I have to say she is doing a damn good job, armed with her Beverly Hills mansion decked out with her exquisite taste in design and a party guest list that boasts of Benjamin Button star Jared Harris and a performance by Dita Von Teese I think she’s plugging quite nice. For a minute I almost expected to see ‘booby’ model Jordan, (real name Katie Price) hanging up the coats and her sexy husband Peter Andre, shaking a few cocktails, now to have seen that would have made the drive more than worth while, but alas not…

But let’s face it ‘our’ Mandy’ has had a bit of a leg up in her quest to launch herself in Hollywood, her ex ‘moneybags’ husband Johan Eliasch is Chairman of the Management Board of sporting goods manufacturer HEAD and Prince Andrews ‘Bff’, in 2006, he reportedly purchased 400,000 acres of land in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest through his NGO Cool Hearth so let’s just say she is definitely not short of a ‘bob or two’ and boy does she know how to throw a ‘do’, as no expense was spared.

And of course not forgetting her book… In publishing “Cloak and Dagger Butterfly”, Amanda says she brings into the public eye a journey that began when she read [aged twelve] “The L-Shaped Room” – by Lynne Reid Banks – a book about love and passion and whose heroine meets her lovers in secret… OK Mand’ nuff said…!

Oh I forget to mention I used to be Amanda’s publicist back in 2001 when I was appointed to PR her debut book Peep, which even if I say so myself brought ‘Ms. E’ a hell of a lot of attention, when I arrived last night Amanda called me the ‘naughty one’ and I’ll explain why, you see my clever little PR brain back then had the launch for Peep closed down and the police were called in to inspect the Proud Gallery in Victoria, London, suspecting Amanda of holding some dodgey pornographic event due to its peep show styled theme, of course she wasn’t, but it did make a whole page in the Evening Standard, a result ‘our Mandy’ was thrilled with. But sadly no police were called to the Cloak and Dagger Butterfly event, though I was tempted just for old times sake (scoff).

Well I was happy enough being handed my complimentary copy of  Cloak & Dagger Butterfly upon my departure from the bash and it has to be said, Amanda’s work has moved on in leaps and bounds, this, the fifth release in her collection is one book I will certainly be proud of placing on the coffee table at my pokey West Hollywood apartment… Overall however this party was certainly tame compared to others thrown by Eliasch and everybody left rather early, driving home sober… You’d better get used to this ‘Mandy’ welcome to LA!
